Manchester United: Scott McTominay has been voted as Manchester United’s Player of the Month for the first time.
The 21-year-old midfielder has landed the accolade after scoring his first senior goal against Wolves and for playing excellently in our Champions League quarter-final first leg against Barcelona.
Yep, that’s it. Dude scored his first senior goal and “played excellently in the first leg against Barcelona.” That’s enough to earn you player of the month these days.
The truth is, there really is no one else to give it to this month. United won one of their seven April games. That’s beyond awful. No player worked harder than McTominay over the course of the month. He seemed to be the only player who brought it night after night.
That is an indictment in and of itself and just shows how low the bar is. You know you’ve had an absolutely god awful month when you’re giving a player of the month award to a guy because “he tried hard every game.”
Woof.
