This Was Hands Down the Worst Rangers Game I’ve Seen in Years

There’s no way to sugar coat this. This was an absolutely disgusting performance by the Rangers. I’m currently writing this in the second period with the score 4-0 Boston and I’ll probably post it before the game even ends because this game has absolutely no chance of even turning around.

Henrik Lundqvist returned to the ice today after a seven week absence and to say the Rangers came out and laid a goose egg would be an understatement. You can’t blame Lundqvist for anything, he’s literally out there alone with no help whatsoever. Since the 2004-05 lockout I have honestly never seen a game this bad.

Not one player is moving their legs, every pass is coming up way short, it doesn’t even look like the Rangers are trying to even get shots off. It’s safe to say every single player on my men’s league hockey team has better movement then any of the Rangers on the ice today, and there are straight up people that are immobile on my team. Hell, in one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen Tuuka Rask skated off the ice 10 seconds into the second period, forcing Boston to go to one of their crappy backups who have struggled mightily lately. The Rangers responded by not trying put any pressure on the Bruins to get the puck, and not getting any shots or any pressure in front of Boston’s goal.

And this is all coming against a team that the Rangers may very well end up playing in the first round of the playoffs.

I lied, there is actually one silver lining to this game. It tells us absolutely nothing about what kind of playoff matchup this will be. While ideally Boston isn’t the first round matchup I want, in no way has this game scared me any more then I already had been.

It’s not like Boston have been dominating the Rangers. Boston doesn’t look like they’re trying, they’re not even playing that well. This is literally the Rangers just not trying at all. It’s literally the definition of zero fucks given. It’s not who the Rangers are at all and I can’t see it lasting more then one game. That’s the only positive thing I can say about the Rangers right now.
